The Smooth Show is expanding its footprint across Philadelphia, and we’ll be putting on a concert in Fishtown at Black Squirrel Club! If you’ve never been to this venue before, you’re in for a treat: it was voted a 2024 “Best of Philly” venue for it’s eclectic, unique ambiance, and it is known as one of the best places for live music in the city. After a successful event last year, the Harvest Groove Band is bringing back Lovers Lane: An Evening of R&B and Soul! I’m excited to be playing as part of this event again, and I hope you join us at CEC Meeting House Theater in West Philadelphia for a night filled with soulful melodies and smooth R&B vibes. Merck is hosting a hospitality suite as part of the National Black MBA Association’s national conference in Washington, DC, with The Smooth Show providing the live entertainment. MOBBLUZ is an Alt Jazz Rock powerhouse band, and they are having an album release party on Sunday 08Sep at 7:30p. This concert will include a headlining performance by The Smooth Show’s very own Lloyd Billups — and I will be performing as part of his band that night. Earlier this year, The Smooth Show did its first worship service as part of the Black History Month celebration at Christian Faith Fellowship. Apparently the good people at this church really liked us; they’re having us back on Sunday 07Jul as part of their church anniversary celebration. As some of you know, I met all of the members of The Smooth Show through church; however, we have never played together for a church service. That all changes on Sunday 25Feb as Christian Faith Fellowship is welcoming us to provide the music for their worship service, which begins at 10:00am. In celebration of Black History Month, the church is highlighting the origins of jazz music; you’ll hear some of the jazz you know and love from us before and after service as well.
